Suddenly she heard a cry from the sea. When she caught sight of a drowning boy struggling in the water and crying for help, she immediately took up a life-buoy tied with a rope and threw it over to the drowning boy. The boy got hold of it and did his best to swim towards the beach, where Miss Rose was going all out to pull the child out of the water.
